Bulwell Outlaws BMX 2005 Winter Race Series
The final round of the 2005 Bulwell BMX Winter Race Series was held on 27th November. For the past 11 weeks,
riders have been racing at the Bulwell BMX track situated towards the top of Sellers Wood Road.
Every rider has their own goals. For some, simply riding round the entire track is a huge achievement -
it is not an easy track.
Riders have received points from each race they competed in,
and their best 7 results are used to produce their total points tally, all recorded in a league table.
In other words, it was not essential to attend all eleven races.
There was another great turn-out on Sunday, despite the cold, damp weather.
There was some very competitive riding as riders fought for points towards their final ranking,
and it was also fantastic to see a few riders from other clubs.
There were prizes and trophies for the first three riders in each age group.
A big thank-you to Denise and Debbie from Bulwell Vision who provided soft drinks, biscuits, sausage and cheese rolls for everyone.
They also presented the new Bulwell Outlaws tops and bags to all top three riders.
Thank-you to all the riders who helped clear up litter. Well done guys.
And last but not least, Thanks to all the parents who have got involved and supported the club.
It is this level of interest and support which will ensure the club has a very successful 2006.
The next race is to be the Boxing Day Special which is scheduled for 2:00 pm on 26th December!
So, whether or not you have a new bike for Christmas, let's hope to see you down the track for one last race of 2005.
Keep on eye on the Club News section of the website for all the latest news about races and trips to other clubs.

Under 9 Category
The under 9's saw some excellent racing between the top riders, Max Monaghan, Wilfred Njunga and Louis Gray-Blest.
Each of them won one of the heats, which led to a very exciting final.
Max had started the series late and so he needed to win this race to have a chance of taking third place in the series.
Unfortuantely for him, he did not get a good run round the bombhole berm
and finished up in third place behind Louis in second and Wilfred taking first place in the final and also winner of the series.
Frazer Dudley held on to third place in the series.
Wilfred was the only rider in the club to achieve a maximum series points total of 140. Well done Wilfred.
| Wilfred Njunga | 140 points |
| Louis Gray-Blest | 135 points |
| Frazer Dudley | 118 points |
9-11 Category
The 9-11 age group had already been sewn up by Harry Gray-Blest and he finished in style by winning all of the heats and the final.
Michael Njunga was close behind, finishing each race in second place and also finishing second in the series.
Adam Bowler took third place in the final but Rhyce Spence had already secured third place in the series thanks to his excellent attendance record.
| Harry Gray-Blest | 138 points |
| Michael Njunga | 129 points |
| Rhyce Spence | 115 points |
12 - 14 Category
The Spick Brothers from Rotherham BMX club dominated the final round of the 12-14 age group,
though not without some healthy competition from our own Shane Mellors.
Shane finished third in the final and would have finished much higher in the series if only he had competed in more races.
The series was won by Daniel Storer, with Kallum Brown only 2 points behind him in second place.
Third place was won Brendan Ortom.
| Daniel Storer | 128 points |
| Kallum Brown | 126 points |
| Brendan Ortom | 112 points |
Over 14 Category
The over 14 age group was not highly contested and a few strong performances by Tom Flemming was enough to secure a series victory.
| Tom Flemming | 80 points |
| Nathan Smith | 74 points |
| Jasvir Kainth | 38 points |
Mountain Bike Category
The mountain bike class has seen some excellent racing over the course of the series,
with Kriss Brown dominating the last three rounds.
Unfortunately, injury prevented him from competing in the earlier rounds and he did not accumulate enough points for a top three place in the series.
In todays race he came first again with Lawrence Kimani getting second place.
Craig Alexander, who also missed the earlier rounds of the series, was delighted with third place in the final beating Tom Flemming into fourth place.
The series was won by Lawrence with Tom in second place and the younger Ben Purewal taking a well-deserved third place.
| Lawrence Kimani | 136 points |
| Tom Flemming | 129 points |
| Ben Purewal | 117 points |
